A list post is a post that contains information arranged vertically using bullet points both numbered and unnumbered. Ask anyone and he will tell you that the writing list post is one of the best things you can do for the overall health of your blog.

Why List post?

  1. 1. List post is scannable: People find it easy to scan through the list post. And ability to scan (or read) a post quickly is one of the major goal of your visitors. There are so many things on the Internet putting demand on their time that they do not afford to go through a heavy post, and that is where a list post steps is.
  2. 2. It works as a great source for reference: An all-encompassing list post is often bookmarked by the reader for future reference. Readers often come back to the bookmarked list post to see the information they seek. This way a list post will build a possibility of repeat-visit in your blog.
  3. It adds up to your resource list: If you have succeeded in creating a timeless list post then you can add the URL of that list post in the resource box so that new users can benefit from that. A good list will provide depth to your resource box, which in itself is a big reason why someone will come to your blog.

There is indeed something about age that you should care about. You need to know how you should handle age issue when searching for job after 45, and in this article, I am going to tell you precisely about that.

Show what you are capable of

Not everyone out there is hunting for young employees; in other words, not everyone is concerned about employees’ in one’s company. These people are more concerned about their present productivity, which they believe can only be boosted if employees with certain experience join their team. For these employers, the more experienced the team is the better result they will get. Capitalize of this line of thinking, and strengthen your candidacy by showing your experience. Also tell them what you can do for them, if hired.

Find employer seeking older employees

Not everyone loves young workforce, some take it for inexperienced lot that cannot deliver. This group of employers is looking for people who have ground knowledge of their field and know how things take shape. This group of employees will be a good fit for you. Search for such companies and apply categorically mentioning your experience.

Legal action upon discrimination

I know this is not good, and I wish it never come to that, but in some situations it becomes absolute must. Under the law of our nation, no employer can discriminate on the basis of age, so when push comes to shove, you should take an employer to the court of law. But you must understand that proving it will not be easy, regardless, you should seek legal action if you are discriminated against. You should not suffer due to your age.

Although I will not recommend legal course of action, as it is nothing but waste of precious time, which can be used to find a job. I also do not support any kind of discrimination, so if your age is told to be the reason for not getting a job then go forward and prove it in the court.

The hobbies section of your resume can be a tricky one.  Because the main importance and the way you are being judged is resume wording and style, hobbies should be handled carefully.  While most people will be scared off adding a hobby section to their resume, you really shouldn’t be.  As long as you know what to write, the hobby section can be another way to sell yourself.  Another great little window into why you’d be a better employee than the other applicants as it were.

You should absolutely use your hobbies to illustrate skills that you have that can come in handy on the job.  So only use hobbies that apply to your career, so to speak.  If you play videogames a lot, you’re going to have trouble making that one come through, so an employer gains more interest in you.  So stay away from hobbies like that, and stick to outgoing proactive hobbies.  Anything that gets you out, as a positive force, and that likely showcases your leadership or problem solving abilities.

Remember to keep your hobbies job related, otherwise you’re just wasting space and an employer’s time, with content that doesn’t matter to them.  The idea of this section is to help them learn about you, and why you would be a fantastic employee.   So limit your hobbies to 2-3, so that you have a short but informative section.  This is just a little place to sell yourself, don’t drone on for too long.

That can’t be stressed enough, you absolutely don’t want a large hobby section.  Otherwise the rest of your resume will look worse off because of your hobbies.  Also, never let your hobbies section be the reason your resume spills over to a second page.  You want to keep your resume at page length, and if you can’t do that with a hobbies section, it’s better to go without.
